California Gold Completes Construction on Yuba City Veterans' Affairs Hospital

Sonora, CA - California Gold Development Corporation, a Northern California real estate development and construction firm, completed construction on a 25,000 square foot mixed-use Veterans’ Affairs office and clinic in Yuba City, California. California Gold developed, built, and is leasing the project to the VA.

The state-of-the-art two-story building houses a medical clinic on the lower floor, which is occupied by the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs. The second floor is designed for medical or office use.

In collaboration with the VA team, California Gold designed an innovative frontstage/backstage layout, which facilitates improved patient care efficiency. By separating the front and back sections, VA staff are able to keep operational activities separate from patient interaction. The VA is currently evaluating the design model for future VA clinic locations.

“Working with the VA, we came up with an innovative model to help solve a patient efficiency problem. Our frontstage/backstage design allows patients to be seen and treated quicker, and it gives the staff a separate area to work in. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with the Yuba City VA, and they have been very pleased with our solutions and oversight of the project,” says Jim Todd, Chief Operating Officer at California Gold.

The Yuba City VA clinic is the third Veterans’ Affairs project that the company has completed; California Gold also developed and constructed VA clinics in Sonora and Merced, California. A fourth clinic, in Modesto, is currently under construction.
