Michael Q. Jones
Founder, Chairman Emeritus
Construction runs in Michael Q. Jones’ blood. As a fourth-generation contractor, he followed a family tradition of builders and business owners. In 1975, he received his contractor’s license, and in 1978, he officially incorporated Michael Q. Jones Construction.
The company originally built custom homes—many of them second homes—in the mountains of Northern California. Michael’s clients wanted a turnkey solution, so he crafted his business model accordingly: he handled everything from the permitting, to assisting with the owners with finding financing, to the full design and build of the home.
From the company’s inception, Michael and his business partners, Ron Woodall, and later, Jim Todd, relied on trust to build relationships with investors and clients. Today, many of the company’s original investors still put capital in projects, and the partners have maintained strong relationships for almost 35 years with community leaders, clients, and business associates.
Today, although retired, Michael is an active advisor to California Gold and continues to be deeply involved in community affairs. He is a board member of Oak Valley Community Bank, past board member of Sierra Repertory Theatre, past President of the Tuolumne County Building Industry, past director of the Tuolumne County Hospital Foundation, past member of the citizen’s advisory board for Columbia College, and past President of the Sonora 49er Rotary Club. |
